The Problem
There are numerous threats to the viability of the remainingΒ wild orangutan populationΒ in Indonesia and Malaysia.Β Β The primary threat is theΒ loss of habitat with up to 80% of suitable forest in Indonesia and MalaysiaΒ having been lost in the past 20 years. Other threats, which often go hand-in-hand with the destruction of the rainforest, are the illegal pet trade and poaching.

Alba was just five years old when BOS rescued her from captivity in 2017 and brought her to the Nyaru Menteng Orangutan Rescue and Rehabilitation Center, where she spent nearly two years under our care.
Although she is susceptible to various health conditionsβsuch as poor vision, hearing issues, and sensitivity to lightβAlba demonstrated excellent climbing and socialisation skills.
Thanks to her impressive progress, the BOS Foundation team released her into the Bukit Baka Bukit Raya National Park in December 2018. Since then, she has been thriving in her natural #rainforest habitat.

#BreakingNews! Our parent organisation, the @bosfoundation, has successfully released six #orangutans into the Kehje Sewen Forest!
The Indonesian Minister of Forestry, Mr Raja Juli Antoni, had the honour of opening Mikhayla's transport cage, marking a significant step forward#orangutang#Conservationation.
We at BOS extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Indonesian Ministry of Forestry (@kemenhut) and the East Kalimantan Natural Resources Conservation Agency (@bksda_kaltim) for their invaluable collaboration in making this 27th orangutan release from the Samboja Lestari Rehabilitation Centre possible.

Today, we commemorate the 55th anniversary of #EarthDay. The theme for this year is "Our Power, Our Planet," which emphasises renewable energy and climate action.
At BOS, we are actively implementing renewable energy projects at our centres, such as the solar power plant at Samboja Lestari. This initiative reduces our reliance on fossil fuels and lowers carbon emissions.
Furthermore, we are focused on reforesting degraded land to create new habitats for #orangutans and other wildlife while mitigating climate change.
#StrongerTogether, we can all contribute to #protecting our beautiful planet and all its inhabitants.π

Thank you very much for your great and hard work and for looking after these amazing living creatures that are being turned into endangered species by despicable multinationals like Ferrero which makes Nutella or those making oreo cookies or Cadbury products,to name just a few, which keep on destroying their natural forests in Indonesia and Borneo to plant Palm oíl trees just because Palm oíl IS cheap!!! The international community must inform consumers about It,fine those multinationals and ban this appalling business and those Who buy those products containing Palm oíl IS MUST be aware of its terrible consequences!!! Please,lets read the labels and lets not buy those products containing Palm oíl for the sake of these innocent and unique living creatures π¦§β€οΈ
